Gauff has raced into the Italian Open quarter-final and lost just one set in the tournament so far.

The fourth seed produced her best tennis of the competition in a commanding 6-1, 6-2 round of 16 victory over Emma Raducanu last time out.

Gauff has won eight of her previous nine matches and has never lost against Andreeva in three encounters.

The American and Russian players met in the quarter-final stage of the Madrid Open in April. Here, Gauff beat Andreeva 7-5, 6-1.

Andreeva has also only dropped one set in her three Italian Open matches. The 18-year-old comfortably defeated Emiliana Arango and Linda Nosková in the first two rounds.

The Russian player had to come back from a set down to edge Clara Tauson 5-7, 6-,3 6-2 in the round of 16.

2025 has been Andreeva’s best WTA campaign so far after winning titles in Dubai and Indian Wells.

However, Andreeva hasn’t translated this success onto clay yet. The seventh seed was eliminated at the round of 16 stage in Stuttgart before losing the Madrid Open quarter final to Gauff.
